Celebrate the Solstice as a Modern-Day Mystic

Tens of thousands gathered at Stonehenge to see the summer solstice sunrise alignment

It’s often wondered why ancient peoples from all over the world, placed so much importance on the celebration of the solstice and equinox. It is estimated that they built hundreds (if not thousands) of huge megalithic structures, stone circles, temples, and secret inner rooms that aligned with the sun precisely at these times of year—across Europe, in Egypt, in North and South America, Easter Island, Australia, Asia, the Middle East, and many other parts of the world.

Most today see the solstice as a form of sun worship and pagan celebration to do with the seasons, and yet these sites are some of the most advanced astronomically, mathematically, architecturally, and spiritually, in history and even still today.

This post explores the deeper spiritual significance of the solstices and equinoxes, which are the four points in the wheel of the year, to uncover why these celebrations were so important spiritually in ancient times, and are just as relevant to people searching for spirituality today.

Many thanks for putting this information in a very clear and easily understandable manner.
I have really enjoyed reading the meaning behind the cycles of the earth and how they relate to the greater inner work of a person trying to achieve enlightenment.
It has inspired me as well to continue to discover!

    thanks again!!

  3. This was a very interesting read, thanks for bringing it to us. One wonders what this Summer Solstice holds for Belsebuub.

    • Yes, David, I was also thinking about this, it must be something totally amazing, and I also feel like it is great opportunity for us to celebrate this particular Solstice, while Belsebuub is ascending right now! :-)

This is a very interesting article. It really put things that were loose strings of understanding into perspective for me.

When I saw the movie ZeitGeist (of which I am a fan overall), I was kind of disappointed at the logic presented to discount the presence of divinity because the events in the life of the Christ have been present throughout the ages… To me it’s very magical to see such spiritual events re-enacted within different cultures throughout time – a reminder of the presence of spiritual forces in the world. It’s too bad some discount this as borrowed tales between cultures…

I feel a lot more inspired to take part in celebrating the solstice!

Wow, it is great to have this spiritual explanation of the solstices all laid out in this article. I am certainly inspired to explore and celebrate them and to seek to connect with their deeper significance.

  6. This is such a great article! I have always felt that Sun is important, and that it was not just by some accident that so many cultures worshiped it, so it is very nice to have it all laid out here and put into context with spiritual work. And now it is up to us to find a real, personal meaning for all this within…

  7. Gabrielle says:

Thanks so much for this information. I especially appreciate the emphasis on the esoteric side of the solstice and the related events.

It was inspiring to read, and I look forward to exploring this further.

  8. I agree, great to have all this information here. And I really like what you said Lucia, “now it is up to us to find a real, personal meaning for all this within…” Right on.

    • Thanks so much for putting all this together in such a succinct way. While much ancient wisdom has been lost, it is wonderful that there is still enough around to inspire us.

  9. Thanks so much for this really comprehensive article. It really helps put things in perspective.

  10. Thanks so much for posting this.

When I read this I just had a feeling of awe. I realized how little knowledge/experience I have of these grand events. It sounds truly intruiging and I’ll definitely be working to get my own experiences with this in the upcoming week.

  11. Thank you for this article. It all looks so interesting and inspiring, I am really looking forward to explore, experience these wonderful spiritual times with everyone.

One of the aspects of Summer Solstice which I would like to also investigate is divination in the form of intuitive reflection.

While the Sun stays in its maximum power, it could be a truly marvelous moments to obtain a clear vision of spiritual actions to take in the recent future.

This is truly amazing to have this info all laid out in such a simple and easy to understand manner.

The Sun has always been sacred by all the different cultures in the word, but this has been almost completely lost in this day and age.

It is really great that we are able to have some guidance on performing a ritual to venerate the Fire, the Light of Christ, the Cosmic Christ.

And Lucia, you are so spot on:

“now it is up to us to find a real, personal meaning for all this within…”

Thank you again for a great article

  13. Excellent information, thanks for putting in so much effort to help us prepare, and hopefully connect ourselves with the Divine.
I really wish everyone all the strength to find true mystical experiences to help with the Awakening.

  18. I think theres no need to worship solstice and nature, as u had descrive obious there are powers that rule aou universe and had pased in generations and are similar like u said the actual power is the Holly Eucarist in the Catholic Church, Mass have everything to worship Jesus wich is the son and God, and virgin Mary as Our Lady Of Gauadalupe wich means the one who crashes the serpent as she apear in Mexico as descrive in Revelation chapter 12 the woman dress by the sun and the moon under her feet and crown with the stars, so the catholic church has alll the actual power in it.
